Jeff Barcinas

Jeff DT Barcinas (1956 – 2011) earned a BA in agricultural business management from California State Polytechnic Institute. He went on to earn a master’s degree in agricultural economics from Washington State University and a PhD in agricultural education from Ohio State University at Columbus. His doctoral work emphasized extension education, research and statistics, administration in higher education, and evaluation.
Dr. Barcinas is the former vice president of University and Community Engagement for the University of Guam. As vice president he worked to strengthen the land grant mission of the university in the area of public service. Moreover, he developed the initiative of an institution-wide extension program to expand extension outreach opportunities with the public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations and the local community with UOG as the “resource of choice.”
He was with the University of Guam from 1979 to 2008, serving as College of Agriculture and Life Sciences dean, acting academic vice president and acting associate vice president of the university.
The Malesso’ resident died on 14 October 2011.
