Eastern coastal village. Located on the eastern coast of the island of Guam, Pago is one of the oldest villages that predate Spanish contact with the ancient CHamorus. The village was settled near the mouth of the Pago River, which feeds into Pago Bay, the largest bay on the island; it is also the site of several important archeological investigations.
Early northeastern coastal village. One of only four recorded latte sites on the northeastern coast of Guam; Pågat (which means to counsel or advise in the CHamoru language) is an important cultural resource for the CHamoru people; the indigenous people of the Mariana Islands.
Sumai/Sumay’s history dates before the Spanish colonial period, although not much is known about its pre-contact history. Findings in a cave complex in the old village site suggest that ancient Chamorros dwelled in them long before the Spanish first arrived.
On March 10, 1976, Governor Ricardo J. Bordallo announced his plan to build an American monument that embodied the Chamorro culture to be called The Latte of Freedom. A scaled down version of the original plan was completed in March 31, 2010, thirty-four years later and twenty years since Gov. Bordallo’s death in 1990.
The vision of the CHamoru Roots Genealogy Project, Hale’ CHamoru, is to be the premiere portal of CHamoru genealogy, where CHamoru, both in the Marianas and abroad, can have access to a centralized repository of genealogy information. The goal of the project is to contain as much accurate and relevant genealogy information on the CHamoru people of the Mariana Islands.

The Guam Women’s Club was the first women’s organization on Guam. It was founded in February of 1952 and formally incorporated as a non-profit organization on 10 March 1953. The original incorporator members included Patricia M. Ehrhart, Betty Pilgrim, Bethia C. Sessions, Phyllis H. Tyng, Melba Shriver, Isabel T. Guzman and Agueda I. Johnston.
The Guam Nurses Association (GNA) was incorporated in 1951 and has been a constituent member of the American Nurses Association since 1968.

Guam Legal Services Corporation (GLSC) was established on Guam in 1979 to provide civil legal assistance to people with a low-income on Guam. It is a grantee of Legal Services Corporation (LSC), a private nonprofit corporation established by the US Congress in 1974 to fulfill the nation’s goal of securing equal justice for all.

The Guam Humanities Council is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting community humanities programming for the people of Guam. The organization was founded in 1991 as the result of an effort spearheaded by professor George Boughton of the University of Guam.
