The Guam Humanities Council is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting community humanities programming for the people of Guam. The organization was founded in 1991 as the result of an effort spearheaded by professor George Boughton of the University of Guam.

Guam Animals In Need (GAIN), Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals, and to the education of the public concerning matters pertaining to animals and their welfare. The GAIN shelter, located in Yigo, has facilities to house and care for dogs, cats and rabbits, and provides food, shelter and medical care.

Pioneers of entertainment. Frank and Marjorie met at the Texas Centennial in 1936 where he was a famous high diver and she a shy, but gutsy, aerialist. They would watch each other’s act, and finally met when Marjorie’s hair turned green after she and some of the show girls took a dip in Frank’s small diving tank below his 100-foot diving tower.
The American Pacific Nursing Leaders Council (APNLC) was founded by nurses in 1978 to promote the advancement of nursing practice and standards in the US – affiliated jurisdictions in the Pacific.

Prior to 1966 the Guam Symphonic Wind Ensemble provided Guam with the only live symphonic music performances available. This ensemble was under the direction of David Williams, a music instructor at the then College of Guam.

When Lt. Commander William Sewell served as the third American Governor of Guam beginning in 1903, he reacted poorly to the Spanish flavor of the music on island.
Congress chartered the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross on 23 October 1916 with signatures of then President Woodrow Wilson, Secretary Charles L. Magee and American Red Cross Acting Chairman Eliot Wadsworth.
