Governor Manuel FL Guerrero

Governor Manuel Flores “Carson” Leon Guerrero (1914 – 1985) was Guam’s second Chamorro governor, the sixth civilian appointed governor, and the first appointed governor to serve more than four years in office. He had an extensive political career and was noted for helping to reconstruct Guam after the devastation of Typhoon Karen in November 1962, as well as reorganizing the Government of Guam (GovGuam) and facilitating the development of the island’s tourist economy.

Governor Joseph F. Ada

Joseph Franklin Ada (1943 — ) served as the Governor of Guam from 1987 through 1994. Frank Blas Jr. was his lieutenant governor. Ada stewarded Guam’s economic expansion and pushed, successfully, for return of land held by the US military. He was the first governor of Guam to be re-elected to a consecutive term in office, after being re-elected in 1990.

Ricardo Jerome Bordallo (1927-1990) was the first popularly elected governor to serve two terms (1975-1978 and 1983-1986). Governor Carlos Camacho had also served two terms though one was an appointed and the other elected.

Governor Paul M. Calvo

Paul MacDonald Calvo (1934 – 2024) was Guam’s third elected governor and one of the founders of the Republican Party of Guam. He is still one of Guam’s leading businessmen as the head of Guam’s most prominent business family, and remains influential in Guam’s political realm. His son, Eddie Baza Calvo, is currently the governor of Guam.

Henry Louis Larsen (1890 – 1962) was a lieutenant general of the US Marine Corps, and was the governor of Guam from 15 August 1944 to 30 May 1946. His major mission of World War II was as Island Commander.

Governor Willis W. Bradley

United States Naval Captain Willis W. Bradley (1884 – 1954), governor of Guam from 1929 to 1931, attempted to make a series of changes in the way the island was governed. Upon arriving in Guam he used the 1929 Annual Report from the previous Naval governor to recommend to US Congress that CHamorus be granted US citizenship.

The last Spanish-appointed Governor of the Mariana Islands, Juan Marina Vega (1846 – 1909), more commonly known as Juan Marina, served his term on Guam from April 1897 to June 1898. Guam was ceded to the US in 1898 at the conclusion of the Spanish-American War.
