CHagui’an Memorial, Yigo. The CHagui’an Memorial site, on the north-central plateau of Guam, is where the largest known single act of violence on Guam occurred, just at the end of World War II. Among the thousands of CHamorus held at the Manenggon concentration camp, 45 men were taken and forced to carry supplies to an Imperial Japanese Army command post at Milalak near CHagui’an, Yigo. They were killed by the Japanese to prevent them from providing information to the Americans.

Personal narratives allow them to share their life with others and vicariously experience the things that happen around them. Their job as the writer is to put the reader in the midst of the action, letting him or her live through an experience.

Lesson Plan: Our Place In The World

This is an introductory lesson to 5th grade geography, culture, history, and government. Students will learn to locate islands and key features on maps in the region in which they live. They will later use these skills to locate countries, states, and key features on a map or globe of the United States and the world as well as build background knowledge for future Social Studies lessons.
